Step 1: Create a sample file
To start, create a new text file and name it sample.xyz.
Step 2: Access the folder options
Type folder options in the Windows search bar and click Folder Options.
Step 3: Configure file extension display
Click the View tab and make sure Hide extensions for known file types is selected. Then, click Apply and then OK.
Step 4: Change the file association
Right-click the power plan file in question and select Open with. Then, choose Choose another app.
Step 5: Select a custom application
Click Choose an app on your PC and browse to and select the sample.xyz file you created earlier.
Step 6: Reboot the system
Finally, reboot your system for the changes to take effect.
