Welcome reader, in this tutorial I'll explain how to resolve the Windows error Windows could not start the WLAN AutoConfig service in Windows.

Step 1: Open Registry Editor

First, let's open the Windows Registry Editor. To do this, click the Windows search box and type regedit. Then, right-click regedit and select Run as administrator.

Step 2: Navigate to the correct location

Once the Registry Editor is open, we need to navigate to the correct location. Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to expand it, then SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, and finally Services.

Step 3: Delete unnecessary text

In the Services folder, find and select DHCP. Then, find and select DependOnService in the right panel. You'll see a string of text in this field.

You must delete all text that appears here, except for the word afd. To do this, simply select the text, right-click, and select Delete.

Step 4: Reboot the system

Once you've deleted the unnecessary text, you can close the Registry Editor and restart your system. After restarting, the WLAN AutoConfig service should start correctly.
